We’re not exactly counting the days until it gets exponentially colder and darker, but there’s something about pampering yourself with a streak in the fall and winter months that just feels … right.
That’s why the horrors take over towards the end of the year. With new movies and series set to terrify us over the next few months, one in particular has caught everyone’s attention. The midnight club is a 10-part series based on the 1994 novel of the same name (as well as other works) by Christopher Pike.
A new trailer just arrived for the series, it’s safe to say the excitement levels are high. With that, here’s everything you need to know The midnight club.
What is the plot The midnight club?
Get ready to enter the Midnight Club – it feels like a hellish ride.
In a hospice for terminally ill young adults, eight patients gather every night at midnight to tell each other stories. It feels like some kind of teenage campfire situation that’s all very healthy and good-natured, but we know how these are Netflix the series goes, so clearly it will unfold in everything but that.
According to the Netflix synopsis, Iman Benson plays Ilonka, a high school student traveling to Stanford University. That is until she is diagnosed with terminal thyroid cancer and she heads to Brightcliffe Manor instead of her dream college. In her new home, her hospice, she befriends a group of similarly ill teenagers who sneak into the library every night to tell each other scary stories. But what everyone will soon realize is that Brightcliffe has a mysterious history and many secrets lurking in the shadows.
And after sharing their stories, the group makes a pact that the next to die will give the group a sign from beyond. The midnight club is based on the works of Christopher Pike, including Witch, give me a kiss, Road to nowhere, The wicked heart and of course, The midnight club, which serves as the biggest inspiration of the series. The adaptation is based on Intrepid Pictures by Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy (The Haunting Of Hill House, Midnight Mass) and Lia Fong.
Who will act The midnight club?
The cast of the new series is made up of incoming talent including Adia, Igby Rigney, Ruth Codd, William Chris Sumpter, Aya Furukawa, Annarah Shephard and Sauriyan Sapkota, who make up the Midnight Club.
The protagonist of the series is also Heather Langenkamp – di Nightmare on via Elm movie fame – playing the enigmatic doctor who presides over the hospice.

A first teaser trailer was released a few months ago, but now a brand new official trailer is out. It’s longer and more terrifying, so you may just want to watch this in a well-lit room.
In it, we take a closer look at Iman Benson and her life before Brightcliffe Manor and then we are quickly introduced to the Midnight Club itself. What begins as a cheerful meeting of friendship turns very quickly into the discovery that the manor houses an incredibly checkered past and it could be the Midnight Club to find out.
