Here’s everything we know so far for the horror month:

October 4th

Mr. Harrigan’s phone (2022)a Netflix Original Movie – Blumhouse and Netflix teamed up to adapt Stephen King’s short novel. This premise follows
Craig, a young boy, who befriends elderly billionaire John Harrigan. Craig then gives him a cell phone. However, when the man dies, Craig discovers he can communicate with his friend from the grave. The film adaptation will star Donald Sutherland and Jaeden Martell.


October 7

Old (2022)a German Netflix Original horror film that follows a woman who returns home with her children to attend her sister’s wedding. However, she suddenly has to defend her family against the elders in a killing spree.

The midnight club season 1 – another Netflix original horror series by Mike Flanagan (who else!). This will be the most anticipated series of the month. An adaptation for adolescents about a group of terminally ill adolescents in a hospice. As part of an exclusive club, they make a chilling pact: the first to die must send a sign from beyond the grave. Hold on tight, people; this could be another classic!


October 14

The Curse of Bridge Hollow (2022)a Netflix Original film that follows a dad who hates Halloween (played by Marlon Wayans) who reluctantly teams up with his teenage daughter when an evil spirit devastates giving life to their town’s decorations.

October 18

Unsolved mysteries season 3 – a Netflix documentary series: This successful reboot now has a third season. This time they will release episodes over three weeks, with a different spooky mystery to unravel. Season 1 and 2 were a success, so let’s hope it is!


October 19

The school of good and evil (2022) – a Netflix Original movie – starring Sophia Anne Caruso, Sofia Wylie and Charlize Theron, this will be the most anticipated movie on Netflix for the month of horror. The premise follows best friends Sophie and Agatha, who test their bond when they are taken away to a magical school for future fairy tale heroes and villains. The story is based on the book by Soman Chainani.


October 25

The Cabinet of Curiosities by Guillermo del Toro season 1 – a Netflix anthology horror series – Mike Flanagan has some contest this month from famed director Guillermo del Toro. The series will release two episodes a day until October 28.

October 27

Daniel Spellbound season 1 – a Netflix Original animated series – this series is already renewed for season 2, but the first season must first gloat in the month of Halloween. The premise is this: the magic is real, but it’s hidden from the public and Daniel knows where to find it. He discovers a strange ingredient, he gets the attention of dangerous alchemists who take him on an adventure while the wizarding world hangs in the balance.

October 28

Wendell & Wild (2022) – a Netflix original movie – to wrap up the horror month, we’re offered a stop-motion animated film from director Henry Selic. The premise follows two demons attempting to move to the land of the living.
