Smack in the midst of what promises to be a long, hot summer, this hot series starring the breakout how I Met Your Mother the star will fall. The new project comes to us from producer Darren Star, who plays sports Emily in Paris, Sex in the CityAnd Minor.
A fascinating teaser trailer was recently released with a lot of excitement. Star said about this series which will be “more mature” than some of his lighter works, such as his most recent, irresistibly elegant Emilia in Paris. This makes sense based on the trailer, which promises plenty of sensual intrigue, interpersonal drama, and even violent ideas. Jeffrey Richman from the series more fragile And Modern family will co-create with Star. Netflix Vice President of Original Comedy Series said Tracey Pakosta on the collaboration with Richman and Star:
“We are thrilled to partner with Darren on another exciting new series. Both Darren and Jeffrey have continually permeated the spirit of the times by creating characters and stories that resonate with audiences around the world.”
The show promises to be a visually and thematically pleasing interpretation of a man enjoying all the best the city has to offer as he faces the worst inside him and the most traumatic thing that has ever happened to him. What better place to reinvent yourself than in the new Rome, New York City? Here’s everything else we know and expect Decoupled!
Decoupled: the plot
The stylish New York-based series will follow Neil Patrick Harris’ character Michael at the end of a ruined marriage. When her husband finally walks out the door, Michael has to start his life all over again by finding himself, dipping his big toe back into the dating pool, and dealing with the betrayal and emotional withdrawal that plagues all who are going through a breakup or divorce. . In the trailer he is shown breaking a bouquet of romantic red roses next to a garbage can and is set to a jazzy and gaudy music tune that declares on behalf of all New York City romantic dramas, “this is a New York romantic. York City drama, “it looks like it will be a long and difficult road to return to the new normal for Michael.
Both Jeffrey Richman and Darren Star are thrilled to produce a series about a 40-year-old single gay man living his life in New York City. Although they pointed out that the show is not about being gay, it seems that Netflix producers are looking forward to producing such a representative series. It is refreshing to see a project that speaks a lot about a character, a human person just trying to live their life, without recalling stereotypes or lack of stereotypes, as they are prone to do so many “representative” shows. The content shouldn’t announce that it is attempting to put underrepresented material into the mainstream, it should just actively do so Decoupled it seems to achieve just that.
Show producer Jeffrey Richman said of the show:
“We couldn’t have hoped for a more perfect home for Decoupled compared to Netflix. A romantic comedy with a gay protagonist; it is a project of passion for us that seems both personal and universal “.
Darren Star, meanwhile, explained of his upcoming series:
“I think we’ve all had breakups, and it’s a breakup. This is a gay man that he is [in his] late 1940s, which is single in New York, and is an experience that I can relate to and meet many people who have lived through it. “
We can’t wait to see what Netflix has in store for us in this new series. We hope it also helps us get through some of our past romantic dramas!
Decoupled: the cast
Alongside the owner Neil Patrick Harris there will be Tuc Watkins (Black Monday, Parks and Entertainment), who will play Michael’s ex-husband, a hedge fund manager. Watkins definitely looks like the type, so it can be assumed that he will play this role literally. Tisha Campbell of My wife and children And The little shop of horrors he will play Michael’s colleague and new partner in crime, as in the trailer we can see his character and Harris dancing and having fun in a nightclub.
Little else is known about the character’s exact dynamic yet, but based on the trailer, it looks like Michael will be enjoying some very attractive love interests in his quest to move on from his recently failed marriage.
Decoupled will be released exclusively on Netflix on July 29, 2022.
